Attendance Matters!

Why Is Good Attendance So Important?
Consistent attendance in primary school plays a vital role in a child’s development and long-term success. Here’s why it matters:

 Boosts Academic Performance

Children who attend school regularly tend to perform better academically. Studies consistently show that good attendance is linked to higher grades and stronger learning outcomes.

Supports Social and Emotional Growth

Being present in school helps children build friendships, develop social skills, and feel part of a community. These experiences are essential for emotional well-being and confidence.

 Builds Habits for Future Success

Showing up every day teaches responsibility, punctuality, and commitment—qualities that benefit students throughout their education and into their careers.

Helps Close Achievement Gaps

Targeted efforts to improve attendance can help reduce disparities in academic achievement.

Supporting Your Child’s Attendance: What You Can Expect from Us

At our school, we believe that regular attendance is key to your child’s success—both academically and socially. Here’s how we work with you to make sure every child gets the best start:

Clear Expectations
We set clear expectations around attendance and punctuality. These are shared with families through our school policies and daily routines, so everyone understands the importance of being in school, on time, every day.
Early Support
If attendance becomes a concern, we act early. We encourage you to reach out as soon as possible so we can offer help and work together to find solutions.
 Working Together
We value strong partnerships with parents. You play a vital role in ensuring your child attends school regularly. We ask that you report absences promptly and only request time off in truly exceptional circumstances.

Tailored Support for Your Family
We understand that every family is different. Whether your child is struggling with school anxiety or you’re facing practical barriers, we’ll work with you to find the right support. This may involve partnering with external agencies to provide additional help. Our goal is always to support your family and help your child thrive.
 Open Communication
We keep communication simple and accessible. If your child is absent, please let us know by 8:50 am. You can contact us by phone or email.
Monitoring and Follow-Up
We keep a close eye on attendance and follow up quickly if your child is absent without explanation. We’ll stay in touch until we understand the reason and can offer support if needed.
Home Visits and Extra Help
If we can’t reach you, we may visit your home to check in. For families facing ongoing challenges, we offer direct support to help improve attendance.
