The Croft is a primary school where the whole community comes together to provide the children with an environment which will inspire and help them develop into lifelong learners.
Our aim is for the children to develop academically, socially and emotionally so that they become well rounded individuals.
The team at The Croft work hard to provide an excellent educational experience for the children through an exciting curriculum with many sporting, music, artistic and community based learning opportunities.
We pride ourselves on our children’s attitudes and achievements which is achieved by everyone working together for our children.
The Early Years
The children join The Croft at the start of their Reception year.
We place a lot of importance on giving the children the best possible start to their education, so we provide a structured transition from Nursery to our school.
The reception class offers a rich and stimulating environment in which the children can develop a love of learning from an early age.
During the year the children get the opportunity to take part in activities, in and out of the classroom in a purpose built outdoor learning area.
The staff in the EYFS plan and deliver an exciting curriculum with a mixture of adult and child led activities that incorporate the different areas of learning.
At The Croft we offer a broad, creative curriculum that is designed to motivate ad excite our children.
The children love to come to school and learn – our aim is to provide them with the resources and skills to ensure that every child experiences success and achieves their potential.
Each term exciting topics are planned around a theme that incorporates a range of subjects with a strong emphasis on developing children’s literacy and numeracy skills.
A team of teachers and teaching assistants work closely together to ensure that the needs of individual children are met and learning opportunities are maximised through a range of teaching activities.
We believe that children learn best through first hand experiences, therefore each term we strive to organise educational visits and speakers to engage children in their learning and enrich the curriculum.
Physical Education also plays an important role at The Croft as we aim to promote healthy lifestyles for all. We encourage the children to be active in and out of the classroom. As well as the children receiving a high quality PE curriculum, the school offers a range of after school clubs including – football, netball, archery, tag rugby and Frisbee to name a few. Other clubs such as art, cookery, computing , choir and newspaper are also on offer, appealing to the interests of all our children.
The children also get the opportunity to learn to play an instrument through our very successful Rock It music project that is delivered by specialist music teachers.
The Croft Special?
At The Croft Primary School we are a team of dedicated professionals who work together to ensure that the children have an excellent start to their education.
The personal development and the emotional well-being of the children is a priority of our school. We want the children who attend The Croft to be happy and independent learners – our whole curriculum is set up to help promote this ethos.
One of the strengths of our school is the strong relationships that exist between pupils, staff and parents. We work hand in hand to ensure that all children thrive. We have an open door policy whereby we actively encourage parents to come in to school and discuss any aspect of their children’s education with us.
